Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south through the Petite Passe between Giens and Porquerolles. Sand bottom in 3 to 7 metres, good holding. Shelter from SW, W and NW, useful when the mistral blows. Exposed to easterlies, which bring swell into the anchorage.
Practical
Forain anchorage. Port de La Capte lies 0.9 NM north for water and basic provisioning. Port Auguier 1.5 NM south on Giens for a full marina call.
Ashore
Salt marsh and flamingo lagoon of the Vieux Salins d'Hyères 1 km inland, managed by the Conservatoire du Littoral. Sentier du littoral along the east coast of Giens to La Capte beach.
