Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Courreaux de Groix through the main channel of the rade de Lorient, then bear west past the Pointe des Saisies. The bay is shallow and dries in parts towards the shore, so sound in on a rising tide. Sand and weed bottom, holding variable on the algae patches. Keep clear of the oyster parks marked by wooden stakes.
Practical
No services on the beach. Ban-Gâvres harbour lies 0.8 nm north with a small pontoon and shops. Port-Louis, 1.4 nm north, offers fuel, water and a visitor pontoon in the Ban-Gâvres basin.
Ashore
Sandy beach of Kerletu runs along the anchorage. Coastal path GR34 passes above the dunes towards the Citadelle de Port-Louis, 2 km on foot. Bakery and small grocery in Ban-Gâvres village, 1 km from the beach.
