Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Lorient entrance channel, then round the Pointe des Trois Pierres. Drop anchor on sand in 2 to 4 metres, clear of the oyster beds marked by white stakes. The Blavet current runs strongly on springs and needs allowing for.
Practical
Forain anchorage with no shore services. Water and fuel at Port-Louis marina, 0.5 nautical miles to the north-west. Port de Ban-Gâvres gives a fully sheltered fallback 0.4 nautical miles to the south-west.
Ashore
Sentier côtier around the Gâvres peninsula runs past the beach. Bakery and small grocery in the village of Gâvres, about 600 metres on foot. Citadelle de Port-Louis and its national maritime museum reachable by the passenger ferry Locmiquélic to Port-Louis.
