Guide
Approach and anchoring
The anchorage lies just across the ICW channel from Fernandina Harbor Marina, around mile 716, about 3 nm inside St Marys Inlet. The river carries a strong tidal stream, so set the anchor well and allow swinging room. Sand bottom holds reasonably once dug in. Exposed to E and SE winds.
Practical
A public dinghy dock at Fernandina Harbor Marina gives shore access. Fresh water at the marina. Fuel berth, chandlery and provisions are a short walk away in the historic district.
Ashore
The marina sits at the foot of Centre Street in the Fernandina Beach historic district, with shops, restaurants and a grocery within 400 m. Fort Clinch State Park, a brick coastal fort begun in 1847, lies about 3 nm north at the inlet.
