Guide
Approach and anchoring
Lies directly on the Intracoastal Waterway in the centre of town. Hail the marina on VHF 16, with berthing instructions given on arrival. There is around 4,000 feet of alongside dockage and a mooring field.
Practical
A fuel dock supplies petrol and diesel. There are laundry facilities, bait and tackle, and a captain's lounge with wireless internet. Staff are on site 8am to 5pm, seven days a week. Office contact 904 310 3304.
Ashore
The marina opens straight onto Centre Street, the spine of a 55-block historic district holding more than 400 buildings on the National Register. Shops, galleries and restaurants are within walking distance of the docks.
History
Fernandina Beach calls itself the birthplace of the modern shrimping industry. A new shrimping method was pioneered here in 1902, and at its peak the port worked more than 130 shrimp boats.
