Approach and anchoring
Straight coastal approach with no outlying dangers. Straight sandy shoreline, depths drop gently. Sand bottom across the whole bay. Shelter from NW through SW only; fully open to the east, where the prevailing libeccio swell wraps around and any levante makes the anchorage untenable. Clear out for Bastia or Taverna at the first sign of east wind.
Practical
No services ashore at the anchorage itself. Nearest fuel, water and repairs at Port Taverna 8.7 NM south. Bastia Vieux Port 13.2 NM north for full provisioning. Beach landing by tender on sand.
Ashore
Hilltop village of Castellare-de-Casinca 4 km inland, perched on a spur above the coastal plain, with a Romanesque church. Étang de Biguglia nature reserve is a short drive north, the largest lagoon in Corsica and a Natura 2000 bird site.
