Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the east over the Golfe de Bastia. The shoreline is low and straight so use the airport runway and the coast road as reference. Shelter from S, SW and W winds coming off the land; exposed to N and NE which build quickly in tramontane. Keep at least 0.5 NM offshore of Poretta airport approach and avoid the étang de Biguglia outflow plume.
Practical
No facilities at the beach. Bastia Vieux Port lies 6 NM north with visitor berths, fuel, water and chandlery; Port Toga 6.7 NM north offers a more modern marina with reliable visitor space.
Ashore
Long sand beach of Pineto-Marana, backed by umbrella pines, runs several kilometres along the coast. Réserve naturelle de l'étang de Biguglia starts just inland, a Ramsar wetland with birdwatching trails.
