Approach and anchoring
Direct approach from seaward. Entrance channel marked by red and green lights at the jetty heads. Maximum draught 2.5 m. Depths reduce near the quays, call the harbour office on VHF 9 before entering in strong easterly winds which build a swell across the entrance.
Practical
405 berths with water and electricity on the pontoons. Diesel at the fuel berth. Showers, toilets and laundry in the sanitary block. Chandlery and repair yard on site. Supermarket and bakery within 800 m in the Taverna residential area.
Ashore
Long sandy beach of Moriani Plage starting at the north jetty, 2 km of uninterrupted sand. Village of Santa-Maria-Poggio and its Pisan parish church of San Siméon at 3 km inland. Étang de Diana lagoon and its oyster beds at 18 km south along the coast road.
History
The harbour was built in the 1970s during the Corsican coastal marina programme. The name Taverna comes from the medieval staging post on the route between Aléria and Bastia.
