Drying harbour on the Fouesnant peninsula in southern Finistère, at the entrance of the Anse de Penfoulic and close to Port-la-Forêt.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the bay of La Forêt, leaving the Ile aux Moutons and the Glénan to the south. The anchorage off the beach is on sand and dries out at low water springs. Deeper-draught yachts usually take a mooring buoy in the channel or carry on half a mile north to Port-la-Forêt marina. Watch for the unmarked shallows east of Cap Coz point.
Practical
Small slipway and a handful of visitor moorings managed from Fouesnant. No fuel berth on site. All provisions, chandlery and the capitainerie are at Port-la-Forêt, 0.5 NM north, reached on foot in 20 minutes along the coast path.
Ashore
Sandy beach of Cap Coz runs along the spit, with lifeguards in summer. The GR34 coastal path crosses the point and leads west to the Anse de Penfoulic salt marsh, a Natura 2000 bird reserve at 1 km. Fouesnant town centre and its Tuesday market are 3 km inland.
