Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south by rounding the Pointe du Niel. The bay opens between Port du Niel and the Pointe des Chevaliers. Sand and rock bottom, so drop on clear sand patches to avoid fouling the anchor and damaging Posidonia. Sheltered from N, NE and NW winds. Exposed to the south and to swell running up from the east.
Practical
Forain anchorage with no services. Small craft pontoon at Port du Niel 0.3 nm west for landing by tender. Port Auguier lies 0.7 nm SE on the other side of the peninsula as a bad-weather fallback.
Ashore
Tombolo west beach of Giens and the salt marsh of Les Pesquiers reached on foot from Port du Niel in about 20 minutes. Sentier du littoral follows the rocky coast east towards La Madrague.
