Approach and anchoring

Approach from the west around the Basse de Perroz cardinal. The bay is ringed by rocks and the channel runs between the Île d'Yoc'h and the mainland. Sand bottom holds well. Shelter from N through W on the full compass rose except a narrow SW opening. Exposed in any swell from the Iroise.

Practical

Around 200 moorings in the bay, mostly private, with space for visitors to anchor on sand outside the lines. Water tap on the slipway. Bakery and small grocery in the village at 300 metres. Nearest fuel at Le Conquet 10 nm south.

Ashore

GR34 coastal path runs along the cliffs north to Porspoder and south to the chapel of Saint-Gonvel. Low tide causeway to the Île d'Yoc'h, crossed on foot in about 20 minutes.

Story

The Amoco Cadiz ran aground 4 nm north of here in March 1978, spilling 227 000 tonnes of crude onto this coast.
