Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from Tampa Bay towards the City Pier on the island's north tip. Sand bottom with good holding. Protection runs from SE through S and SW to W, leaving the anchorage open to wind and chop from the north and east. Anchor off the pier and go ashore by tender.
Ashore
Anna Maria City Pier reaches around 700 ft into the bay, with views across to the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, and is a working fishing and dolphin-watching spot. Pine Avenue runs from the pier head with shops and restaurants within walking distance.
History
A pier has stood at this site since 1911, built by the Anna Maria Beach Company as a steamboat landing that brought visitors and goods before bridges reached the island.
