Approach and anchoring
Approached through Anna Maria Sound on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, in the channels off the village of Cortez. The bridge to Anna Maria Island lies just to the west.

Moorings and berths with fresh water and shore power. Showers, heads, ice, a bait and tackle shop, a chandlery and a restaurant ashore.
Ashore
Cortez is a working commercial fishing village settled in the 1880s and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Florida Maritime Museum and several seafood houses sit within the village, and Anna Maria Island beaches are a short hop across the sound.
History
Cortez was founded in the 1880s by fishing families from North Carolina and remains one of the last active commercial fishing communities in Florida, still landing mullet, stone crab and grouper.
