Approach and anchoring
Reached by water through a canal of about 2,400 feet leading from the Intracoastal Waterway between the mainland, Bradenton Beach and Longboat Key. The marina is at 12160 Cortez Road West.
Practical
300 indoor and 55 outdoor dry-storage spaces with valet launch service, plus 10 wet berths on lifts. There is a fuel berth selling petrol and diesel, an on-site service department and a boat brokerage. The buildings are rated for 130 mph winds.
Ashore
The fishing village of Cortez is at the door, with the Florida Maritime Museum, the commercial fishing docks and waterfront seafood restaurants. Cortez was settled by North Carolina fishing families in the 1880s.
