Approach and anchoring

Approach on a rising tide with recent charts. The Chausey plateau has the largest tidal range in Europe, up to 14 metres at spring tides, and uncovers more than 300 islets at low water. Sand bottom, holding good. Sheltered from the north-west round to south-west; exposed to southerly and easterly winds. Mark your swinging circle carefully, as neighbouring rocks dry at low water.

Practical

No facilities on site. Visitor moorings in the Sound of Chausey 2 NM north, managed by the commune of Granville. Hérel marina in Granville 8.3 NM east for fuel, water and full services, accessible only around high water through the lock.

Ashore

Grande Île of Chausey 2 NM north, only inhabited island of the archipelago, with a 19th century fort, a small chapel and a single restaurant at the Port Homard landing. Signposted walking loop around the island, about 2 hours. The archipelago is a classified site and part of a Natura 2000 marine zone.
