Approach and anchoring

Open approach from the west across the Golfe d'Ajaccio, no off-lying dangers once past the Îles Sanguinaires. Sheltered from NE through E and S to SE. Fully exposed to W and NW, notably the libeccio which kicks up a heavy swell in the bay. VHF 9. Sand bottom, good holding in 3 to 6 metres.

Practical

Water at the main pontoon of the Porticcio marina. Call ahead on VHF 9 before taking a buoy, as reception can be brusque otherwise, and contact is also by email at mouillage_porticcio@orange.fr. The buoy fee runs to around 45 euros for a catamaran. Shops, a Carrefour Market and restaurants lie within 300 m of the beachfront. Music from the shore can carry late into the night. Ajaccio's Port Tino Rossi lies 3 NM to the NW with full shelter, fuel and berths. Dinghy Dock at 3.3 NM NW.

Ashore

Long sandy beach of Agosta and Plage de la Viva stretch south from the mooring. Thalassotherapy centre and hotels along the shore road. Bus line 30 links Porticcio to Ajaccio centre via the bay road. Chemin des Crêtes footpath climbs behind the resort towards the Punta di Sette Nave.
