Approach and anchoring
Approach from the gulf on open water, sand bottom throughout. Anchoring near the buoys is banned by municipal order, so pick up a buoy. Protection from NE to SE, exposed to the libeccio from SW and to the west swell, and the field rolls with wash from shuttles and jet-skis through the day. Nearest shelter is Port Tino Rossi 2.9 NM to the NW across the gulf.
Practical
Water available on the buoy field. No fuel or chandlery on site. Tender landing on the beach. Nights can be noisy, with music from a beachside nightclub in season.
Ashore
Sandy beach of Porticcio directly ashore. Commune of Grosseto-Prugna village centre within walking distance of the beach for shops and restaurants.
