Approach and anchoring

Approach on a clear sand bottom with no hazards. Anchor beyond the line of yellow buoys 300 m off the beach, clear of the runway alignment and the marked danger buoys of the airport security zone; holding is good in about 7 m of sand and the space is large enough to lie overnight, with a 5 knot limit inside the buoys. Sheltered in light conditions from most sectors but open to the south and to the libeccio which builds quickly across the gulf. Port Tino Rossi lies 2 NM W for refuge, the Dingy Dock 2.1 NM W.

Practical

No shops or restaurants on the beach itself. Two launderettes and a ship chandler stand within about 1 km along the airport road, with bottled gas near the petrol stations 700 m to 1 km from the beach. Groceries ordered from Leclerc or Carrefour can be delivered to the beach car park. The airport terminal is a 10 to 20 minute walk for crew changes.

Ashore

Ajaccio airport runway runs along the shore; overflights of light aircraft and airliners are constant in the daytime. Bus line 8 from the airport terminal to Ajaccio city centre. Old town and Maison Bonaparte 2 NM W by sea.
