Approach and anchoring

Enter the Gulf of Ajaccio and round the Îles Sanguinaires well to the south. Aspretto lies on the southern bank roughly 0.6 NM east of Port Charles Ornano. The bottom is almost all posidonia over mud and many crews cannot get the anchor to bite; only shallow-draught boats close inshore find sand, room for two or three at most. Anchoring is prohibited within 300 m of the beach. Keep it for calm weather, as a westerly swell works in and has forced boats to move to Port Charles Ornano.

Practical

No services at the mooring, and mosquitoes are fierce in the still evenings. Land by tender at the dinghy dock 0.6 NM west, or take the tender across to Port Tino Rossi in the fishing-boat area for the town centre. Port Charles Ornano, 0.6 NM west, provides visitor berths, water, electricity and a fuel berth. All shops and a Monoprix in central Ajaccio within 1.5 km.

Ashore

Central Ajaccio is reached on foot or by bus line 1 along the coast road. Maison Bonaparte, birthplace of Napoleon in 1769, is at rue Saint-Charles. Musée Fesch holds the second-largest collection of Italian primitive painting in France after the Louvre. Market on place Campinchi every morning except Monday.
