Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter the bay from the south, leaving the Tour de Campomoro well to starboard. Anchor on sand patches between the weed and back down hard, as holding is variable. A beach buoy line marked at 300 metres keeps boats off the shallows, so many now lie in 12 to 20 metres, and the Donia app helps place the anchor clear of the weed. Open to the north. Porto Pollo 4,7 NM to the N and Port de Propriano 4,7 NM to the NE for shelter.
Ashore
The Tour de Campomoro, a 16th century Genoese watchtower classed Monument Historique, stands on the southern headland, reached by a 25 minute walk and open to visit for about 2.50 euros. A dinghy pontoon gives a landing by the beach, with a small grocery opposite open until about half past seven. The village restaurants include Le Ressac and Chez Pierre Paul. Sentier du littoral continues south into the Sénétosa nature site.
History
The Genoese tower was built in 1583 to guard the gulf of Valinco against Barbary corsairs. It is one of the largest surviving Genoese towers in Corsica.
