Approach and anchoring

Approach from the north-east, clear of the rocks off the Pointe du But to the west. Sand, good holding. Sheltered from south-east, south, south-west and west, open to the north and north-east. On top of the north-coast swell, ferries serving Port Joinville set up a near-constant roll. Anchor within the authorised zone, as a prohibited area adjoins it, and keep off the rocks by the marina breakwater. Fishing pots lie on the east side.

Practical

Water tap ashore. Port Joinville is 0.4 NM to the north-west for fuel, provisioning and the ferry terminal to Fromentine. Tender landing on the Ker Châlon beach.

Ashore

Port Joinville town is reached on foot in 10 minutes along the coast road, with the Saint-Sauveur church, the Quai de la Mairie restaurants, and the Musée de la Pêche et des Traditions on rue du Marché. Bikes can be hired at the port to tour the island. Ker Châlon beach is a 300 m sand strand right above the anchorage.
