Marina on the Virginia bank of the Potomac River at Daingerfield Island, just south of Reagan National Airport in Alexandria.

Approach and anchoring

Reached from the Potomac River channel below Washington. A floating wave attenuator shelters the basin. Approach and dockside depth around 11 feet, tidal range about 3 feet.

Practical

Around 680 slips, with transient berths on the floating attenuator and a handicap-accessible ramp. Water, 30A shore power, pump-out, heads and showers. Chandlery store and the Catboat Pizza Bar on site. Public launch ramp.

Ashore

On-site sailing school runs courses through summer, with four collegiate teams and six sailing clubs based here. Sailing dinghy and bicycle rentals at the marina. The Mount Vernon Trail for walking and cycling runs along the shore.

History

Daingerfield Island takes its name from a 19th-century landowner. The site is part of the George Washington Memorial Parkway, managed by the National Park Service.
