Approach and anchoring
Approach from the open sea on a westerly heading. Sand holding on the long shelf off the beach. Protection only from W winds blown off the land. Fully exposed to the tramontane from the NW which can rise quickly, and to E and SE swell from the Gulf of Lion. Coastline is flat and without natural shelter, day use in settled weather only.
Practical
No facilities. Sainte-Marie-la-Mer 2.2 NM S and Port Barcarès 2.4 NM N both provide visitor berths, water, diesel and chandlery.
Ashore
Plage de Torreilles runs for several kilometres along the anchorage, classed as a naturiste zone in its northern part. The Bourdigou river mouth and the Natura 2000 embouchure site lie immediately inland with marked walking tracks through the dunes.
