Guide

Approach and anchoring

Long straight sand coast with no offshore dangers in the approach. Sandy bottom, good holding once the anchor is set. Protection from NW through W to SW, so usable with a tramontane from the N to NW blowing offshore. Exposed to easterly wind and swell, which quickly make the roadstead untenable.

Practical

No services on the mooring. Port Barcares lies 1,8 nm north with a full marina, fuel and shops. Port Sainte-Marie-la-Mer is 2,7 nm south.

Ashore

Embouchure du Bourdigou, a small coastal river mouth classified as a Natura 2000 wetland, runs out onto the beach. Sentier du littoral along the dunes toward Sainte-Marie. Seaside village of Torreilles Plage 1 km inland with summer shops and restaurants.
