Full-service marina on Star Island in Lake Montauk, at the eastern tip of Long Island, New York.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter Lake Montauk from Block Island Sound through the jettied inlet, two jetties roughly 980 and 1,100 feet long with 500 feet between them. A lighted bell buoy about 0.3 mile north of the entrance marks the approach. The federal channel carries 12 feet, but a shoal northeast of Star Island shifts and narrows it. The marina lies on the island itself, on the east side of the harbour.
Practical
Around 170 berths on floating pontoons, with 75 set aside for visitors and capacity up to 165 feet. Every berth has water, shore power, cable TV and Wi-Fi, and diesel is laid on at the berth. Chandlery with bait, tackle, ice and groceries, tiled showers, repair shop, 50 and 100-ton travel lifts. Star Island Grill on site for food and drink.
Ashore
Montauk village centre with shops and restaurants is about 4 km south. The Montauk Point Light, commissioned in 1796, stands roughly 6 km east at the tip of the peninsula.
