Guide
Approach and anchoring
Lake Montauk is entered through a dredged channel on its northern shore, about three miles west of Montauk Point, carrying around 12 feet. Depths in the lake run from 5 to 8 feet. The southern basin has a sand bottom and is open to the marina-lined northern shore. Anchor clear of the marked channel.
Practical
Montauk Lake Club and Marina lies 0.6 mile north, with further marinas, fuel and a boat hoist on Star Island inside the harbour. Lake Montauk works one of the largest fishing fleets in New York State.
