Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reach the anchorage from the ICW through the Matanzas River. The Bridge of Lions bascule bridge carries a 25 ft closed clearance and opens on schedule. Strong tidal current runs through the anchorage, so allow swing room and watch your set when anchoring.
Practical
St Augustine Municipal Marina is 2.4 nm to the west with mooring balls, fuel and facilities, and Fish Island Marina lies 2.4 nm to the south-west. The municipal marina is the usual base for going ashore.
Ashore
The Spanish colonial old town is a short tender ride or walk from the municipal marina. The Castillo de San Marcos, a 17th-century coquina stone fort, and the shops of St George Street are within 500 m of the marina.
