Guide
Approach and anchoring
The bottom is sand and weed, with shelter only from the NE. Government Cut, the main ocean entrance to Miami, lies just south and has no fixed bridges, giving deep clear access for tall vessels. Current sweeps through on the tide and wash from passing ship and cruise traffic is constant.
Practical
Miami Beach Marina is 0.5 nm to the S, just inside Government Cut, a large facility with around 400 berths, fuel for petrol and diesel, pump-out and shore power. One Island Park Marina lies 0.6 nm to the S.
Ashore
South Pointe Park occupies the tip of the island with lawns and a pier overlooking the inlet. Ocean Drive and the Art Deco district of South Beach run north along the oceanfront within walking distance of the marina.
