Approach and anchoring
Approach from Biscayne Bay along Government Cut and the MacArthur Causeway. Maximum draught at the berths is 1.9 metres. Vessels up to 65 feet are accepted. Two transient berths kept for visiting yachts when free.
Practical
Member-run facility, mainly for affiliated club reciprocals. Diesel and full services at Island Gardens, 0.4 nm west, and at Venetian Marina, 0.7 nm north-west. Office runs short-term transient bookings by phone.
Ashore
Downtown Miami sits a short causeway hop west; South Beach is the same to the east. Jungle Island and the Children's Museum are next door on Watson Island.
History
Founded in 1927 as the Southern Florida Boat Racing Association, renamed Miami Yacht Club and moved to Watson Island a few years later. The island itself, made of dredge spoil, was named for John W. Watson Sr., Mayor of Miami in 1912 to 1915 and 1917 to 1919.
