Approach and anchoring

The anchorage lies just east of Watson Island, sheltered by surrounding land and causeway from every quarter. Holding is in sand. The City of Miami operates a mooring field here, with room left to anchor between the balls. Fresh water is available.

Practical

Miami Yacht Club lies 0.2 mile west and Island Gardens 0.6 mile west. The yacht club keeps short-term transient berths for visitors when space allows; call the office ahead for rates. The mooring field is served by water taxi to shore.

Ashore

Watson Island, 0.2 mile west, holds the Jungle Island wildlife park and the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science across the causeway. Downtown Miami and South Beach are a short hop by water taxi or tender.
