Approach and anchoring
Approached from Oyster Bay Harbor off Long Island Sound. The club keeps about 35 moorings; visiting boats are normally from reciprocal clubs and should arrange a berth in advance. Launch service ferries crews to and from the moorings.
Practical
Water, ice and fuel available, with a service dock and showers ashore. The boatyard has Travelifts for haul-out and yard work. Overnight mooring fees are charged.
History
Founded in September 1871 aboard the sloop Glance off Centre Island, it was the first purely Corinthian yacht club in the world, run by amateur members who handled their own boats. It merged with the Oyster Bay Yacht Club in 1891 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
