Approach and anchoring
Sits in Oyster Bay Harbour, off Long Island Sound. Deep water throughout, with more than 22 feet at low water at the docks. Berths and moorings available, with a ship-to-shore launch service. Transient boats are welcome on docks and moorings. Phone 516 624 2400.
Practical
Berths, moorings and winter storage, ashore year-round and afloat in three seasons. The boatyard handles petrol and diesel engines, rigging, sails, plumbing and electronics. There are showers, WiFi, a snack shop and a picnic area. Vessels up to 160 feet can be accommodated.
Ashore
Oyster Bay village is a short walk away, with shops and restaurants. Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, Theodore Roosevelt's home from 1885 to 1919, is about 3 km northeast on Cove Neck.
History
Oyster Bay has been a shipbuilding centre and trading harbour since its settlement in 1653, and was a hub for spy activity during the Revolutionary War.
