Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached through Huntington Bay, with the entrance marked by buoys. The Huntington Harbor Light, an offshore lighthouse, marks the way in to both Lloyd Harbor and Huntington Harbor. Anchor just inside the entrance in 7 to 11 feet over mud. A 5 mph speed limit applies within the harbour.
Practical
Knutson Marine and Wyncote Club lie 0.8 mile to the south-east.
History
Huntington Bay was a working anchorage for vessels on Long Island Sound in the early 1800s. When onshore winds made the bay untenable, ships pushed on into Lloyd Harbor for better shelter.
