Approach and anchoring
Access at all states of tide, a rarity on the north Brittany coast. Entry between two breakwaters marked by red and green lights, lat 48 39 N long 2 49 W. VHF channel 9 for the capitainerie. The bay is exposed to NE winds, which raise a short sea in the outer roadstead.
Practical
360 visitor and resident berths, maximum draught 4 metres. Fuel berth with diesel and petrol. Water and electricity on all pontoons. Showers and laundry in the capitainerie building. Crane and boatyard on site for lifting and wintering.
Ashore
Town centre of Saint-Quay-Portrieux 300 m from the marina with shops, bakeries and a covered market. Plage du Casino sand beach 400 m south of the harbour. GR34 coastal path along the cliffs toward the pointe de l'Isnain. Binic marina 2,7 NM to the south for a day trip.
History
The deep-water marina was built in 1990, one of the first tide-independent harbours on the Channel coast of Brittany. The earlier port d'échouage of Portrieux was a sardine and Iceland cod fishing base from the 19th century, with the Islandais fleet sailing each spring to the Icelandic grounds.
