Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach by day from the east. Sheltered from SW, W and NW; open to N and NE winds and to swell entering the bay of Saint-Brieuc. Tidal range in the bay reaches around 12 m at springs, second highest in France after Mont-Saint-Michel; check depth under the keel against the tidal curve.
Practical
No services on the anchorage. Binic harbour lies 1.2 NM S with a lock-gated basin, Saint-Quay-Portrieux 1.6 NM N with a deep-water marina of around 1000 berths open at all states of tide.
Ashore
GR34 coastal path, the former customs officers' trail, runs along the cliffs between Binic and Saint-Quay and continues around the whole Breton coast. Scallop fishery from Saint-Quay is the largest on the French Atlantic coast, with fresh landings sold on the quay in season.
