Mud-bottom anchorage in the ria of the Arguenon, north coast of Brittany, near Saint-Cast and Le Guildo.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter on a rising tide, following the buoyed channel of the Arguenon. Bottom is soft mud, good holding once set. Sheltered from NW through W to SW, open to the NE on the flood. Tidal stream runs strongly at mid-tide and the river dries extensively outside the channel.
Practical
No services at the anchorage. Le Guildo 0.9 NM south for a small slip and village shops. Port du Châtelet 1.3 NM east. Saint-Cast marina a short road trip away for fuel and chandlery.
Ashore
Ruins of the Château du Guildo on the west bank, 12th-century seat of the Penthièvre family. GR 34 coastal path crosses the Arguenon here between Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer and Saint-Cast.
