Approach and anchoring
Approach from the NE along the bay of La Fresnaye. Entry channel dredged to the marina, with red and green beacons and leading lights on bearing 205. The Les Bourdinots cardinal mark, about 0.4 NM NE of the breakwater, must be left to seaward. Max draught 2.25 m at the visitor pontoons. VHF channel 9.
Practical
1005 berths, about 80 reserved for visitors. Water, electricity on pontoons. Fuel berth with diesel and petrol, open in season. Showers, toilets, laundry. Capitainerie office at the root of the pontoons. Bakery and supermarket within 900 m in the town of Saint-Cast.
Ashore
GR34 coastal path passes the marina and reaches Pointe de Saint-Cast in 1.5 km. Plage de Pen-Guen, 2 km south, has 3 km of sand. Cap Fréhel lighthouse and Fort la Latte lie 8 km west by road.
History
The breakwater and marina were inaugurated in 2009, funded by the Département des Côtes-d'Armor. Before that, Saint-Cast had only a drying harbour used by the fishing fleet for scallop dredging in the bay of Saint-Brieuc.
Story
The bay of Saint-Cast is one of the main scallop grounds in France, with the fishery limited to 45 minutes per boat per day in season to protect the stock.
