- Harbour
Full-service marina at New Castle on Little Harbor, New Hampshire, with 170 floating berths and around 100 reserved for visitors.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from Portsmouth Harbour through the Little Harbor channel, west of the Wentworth hotel. Dockside depth is about 10 metres of water at the floating pontoons, taking vessels up to 75 metres. Portsmouth Harbour and the Piscataqua run a strong tidal stream of 4 to 5 knots, so time the harbour approach for slack water.
Practical
Shore power from 30 to 100 amp, fresh water and a fuel berth selling ValvTect diesel and petrol. There is a ship's store, heads with showers, a swimming pool and a waterside restaurant. Courtesy cars for guests.
History
The marina sits below the Wentworth hotel, opened in 1874 as Wentworth Hall. In 1905 the hotel housed the Russian and Japanese delegations who agreed the armistice of the Treaty of Portsmouth, which ended the Russo-Japanese War.
