Guide

Approach and anchoring

Little Harbour opens off the main Piscataqua approach, sheltered behind New Castle island. Deep-water berths take vessels up to 60 metres. The harbour master's office works VHF and is reachable on 603 433-5050.

Practical

The marina has fuel, fresh water and shore power, a ship store, showers and a waterside restaurant. A heated pool, tennis courts and courtesy cars are on site. Office hours are weekdays 0800 to 1600.

Ashore

The Wentworth by the Sea hotel stands beside the marina. Historic downtown Portsmouth, with restaurants and shops, is a short drive across New Castle island.

History

The neighbouring Wentworth by the Sea hotel, opened in 1874, housed the Russian and Japanese delegations during the 1905 negotiations that produced the Treaty of Portsmouth, ending the Russo-Japanese War.
