Guide
Approach and anchoring
The Piscataqua River carries one of the fastest tidal currents in North America, around 4 knots in the last six miles before the sea. Time the approach near slack water and anchor with the stream in mind. Holding is on mud, with shelter from north-west round through south to south-east. Commercial freighters and Coast Guard traffic use the river, so keep clear of the fairway.
Practical
Safe Harbor Kittery Point lies 0.4 miles to the north-east and Portsmouth Yacht Club 0.4 miles to the south-west, both within reach by tender for water and provisions.
