- Harbour
State-run harbour at Rye, New Hampshire, set inside two stone breakwaters, with a public landing and pontoon at the head of the basin.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Pick up the Rye Harbor sea buoy on approach, then follow the green marks in through the breakwater entrance. Inside the basin depths run 2 to 2.5 metres. The harbour holds moored fishing and recreational boats, so manoeuvring room is limited.
Practical
The state facility provides a public launch ramp, a dock and parking. Whale-watching boats and the Isles of Shoals ferry M/V Uncle Oscar both work out of Rye, alongside a fleet of charter fishing boats running for striped bass, bluefish, cod and bluefin tuna.
Ashore
Rye Harbor State Park lies on the south breakwater, with a picnic area and shore access. Rye Harbor is the closest mainland harbour to the Isles of Shoals, about 5 miles offshore.
