Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south via the Chenal de l'Île Noire, then skirt the eastern shore of Callot. The seabed is rock, so use a trip line and check holding. Shelter from SW and W; open to the north. Strong tidal streams run through the bay and the causeway to Carantec covers around 2 hours each side of high water.
Practical
No facilities on the island. Roscoff-Bloscon marina 2.1 nm NW offers fuel, water, electricity and a boatyard. Tender landing possible on the sand beaches on the east side at mid tide.
Ashore
Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Callot stands at the northern tip of the island, a pilgrimage site since the 16th century. A marked footpath runs the 2 km length of the island to the chapel. Shops and restaurants at Carantec, reached on foot across the causeway at low water.
