Guide
Approach and anchoring
Entrance from the buoyed channel of the chenal de Tréguier, then work in on the final approach. Bottom is rock and kelp, so the buoy is the only sensible hold. Protection from NW, N and NE; exposed to swell from the open sector to the W and S.
Practical
One mooring buoy, no shore services on the islet. Port-Diben lies 3,4 NM NE and the marina of Roscoff-Bloscon 4 NM NW for fuel, water and repairs.
History
The Château du Taureau, 200 m off the mooring, is a fort begun in 1542 by the merchants of Morlaix after an English raid, then rebuilt by Vauban in 1689. The lighthouse on Île Louët itself dates from 1860.
