The bottom is mud with good holding, and the creek is sheltered on every quadrant. Reedville Marina lies 0.2 nm to the W and Buzzards Point Marina 0.6 nm to the NW.
Ashore
The Reedville Fishermen's Museum sits on the bank of Cockrell Creek and traces the menhaden fishery. Millionaires' Row, the line of Victorian houses built by fishery captains along Main Street, runs from the museum into town.
History
Reedville was founded in the 1870s by Captain Elijah Reed and grew into the centre of the United States menhaden industry. A fish reduction plant has run continuously on Cockrell Creek since 1878, and the town ranks among the leading commercial fishing ports in the country by landed catch.
