Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter from Chesapeake Bay into the river. Lit buoys mark the channel. Pier remnants stand in deeper water near the river mouth and are not all charted, so keep to the channel or run the approach by day. Power craft passing in the channel throw a heavy wake.
Practical
Large anchorage with room for many boats and no facilities ashore. Holding is good on sticky mud, best on the western side of the anchorage. Ingram Bay Marina lies 1.1 miles south; Buzzards Point Marina is about 1.7 miles to the north-east.
