Approach and anchoring
Enter from the east or south-east between Houat and the Île aux Chevaux reefs. Sand bottom with good holding at 4 to 8 metres. Shelter from NW and W, open to the south-east swell and to strong easterlies. Port Saint-Gildas sits 0.7 nm to the NW when shelter is needed.
Practical
Anchoring only, no visitor buoys. Tender landing on the beach south of the port or at the dinghy pontoon inside Port Saint-Gildas. Water point and waste on the port quay. Crowded from mid-July to late August, arrive before 17:00 to find swinging room.
Ashore
Village of Houat with bakery, grocery, post office and fish stall at 300 m from the port. Treac'h er Goured beach on the south shore at 700 m on foot, one of the longest sand beaches of the Mor Braz. Coastal GR34 variant circles the island in about 3 hours.
