Beach

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the S, clear water offshore. Bottom of sand and weed; lift and reset if the anchor drags through algae patches. Shelter from N through NE to E. Exposed to the S and SW swell; shift to Port-Tudy on the north coast of the island if the wind veers to the south.

Practical

No facilities at the anchorage. Port de Saint-Gildas 1 NM E and Port de l'Argol 5 NM SE are the nearest refuges. Groix village has shops, bakery and restaurants 2 km inland from Port-Tudy on the north coast.

Ashore

Coastal footpath along the south cliffs of Groix passes above the anchorage and continues W towards the Pointe des Chats lighthouse at 3 km and E towards Locmaria. Plage des Grands Sables, France's only convex beach that shifts shape with the currents, is 2.5 km NE on foot.
