Belle-Île, Houat and Hoëdic: the best anchorages

10 lieux · Morbihan

The three offshore islands of Quiberon, half a day apart. On Belle-Île, Sauzon dries but Ster-Wenn, a fjord 50 metres wide, shelters in any weather; Port-Kérel and Port-Goulphar are the wild-coast coves for northerly winds. Houat has the great beach of Tréac'h er Gourhed, Hoëdic the Argol beach and a small harbour with a sill. It all turns on the wind: in westerlies, stay on the eastern sides.
