Approach and anchoring
Straightforward approach from the S between the Pointe de la Baumette to the W and the Pointe de la Beaumette to the E. Sand bottom. The bay is open to S and SE winds, which build a swell rapidly inside. VHF 9.
Practical
Around 40 mooring buoys on sand. Protection from NW, N, NE and E thanks to the red porphyry cliffs of the Esterel. Nearest refuges: Port d'Agay 0.5 NM W and Port du Poussaï 1.2 NM SW.
Ashore
Plage d'Agay sand beach on the W shore, shops and restaurants of Agay village at 500 m. Sentier du littoral climbs the red cliffs of the Cap du Dramont to the E, reaching the Sémaphore du Dramont at about 2 km with a view over the Île d'Or.
History
The writer and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry married Consuelo Suncin in Agay in 1931, and his Lockheed P-38 was found off the Riou archipelago in 2000 after disappearing in 1944.
