Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Petite Rade of Toulon, leaving the naval base to starboard. The entrance faces north and is protected by a breakwater. Maximum draught 2.8 m, suitable for most cruising yachts. Well sheltered from all winds except a strong northerly fetch across the rade. No VHF watch listed, contact by phone.
Practical
350 berths with visitor places available off-season. Water and power on the pontoons. Adjacent boatyard with travel-lift for haul-out and wintering. Nearest all-weather refuges are tiny: Le Lazaret cove 0.3 NM W and Saint-Elme 0.4 NM SW.
Ashore
Saint-Mandrier village and its fishing harbour are 2 km east by the coast road, with bakery, restaurants and a daily market. Path along the Lazaret shore leads west toward the oyster farms of the bay. Ferry to Toulon city centre from Saint-Mandrier pier, about 20 minutes across the rade.
